Update: Feedback from Weight Loss Clients

I recently heard back from a client of mine who I saw earlier this year for just a few sessions of weight loss hypnosis. He's down 40 pounds so far, with a goal of dropping another 30-40 in all. Now he'd like to work a bit on anger management, and I'm happy to oblige.

For those of you who may be wondering, this is pretty much the only repeat business a successful hypnotherapist will get. Most of the time, when we do good work, we never see you again. In most respects, that's a good thing! Not that I don't enjoy bumping into a client every now and then, it's just a good sign that the person has become independent and the work has endured.

The other way we sustain our businesses as hypnotherapists is through referrals. I had a client contact me this past week who heard about me from a friend who's already dropped 60 pounds.

Many businesses thrive on repeat customers. If you find a good restaurant, you're likely to go back on occasion. If a mechanic does a good job repairing your car, he's likely to see you the next time you need some maintenance.

When a hypnotherapist helps you lose weight, you're probably not going to go back repeatedly over the next several years. If you did, it would likely mean the results were less than desirable.

This is one reason I've learned to go the extra mile and make sure each of my clients receives the absolute best service possible. Not only is it necessary to sustain my practice, it's also very rewarding to be able to provide the kind of service I like to receive myself when I do business with someone else.
